Kujawsko-Pomorskie on Expo Milano 2015

The "Kujawsko-Pomorskie " week (22nd-28th June) will begin in the Polish pavilion at the EXPO Milan 2015 on Monday 22nd June.

We would like to introduce the international audience to our health resorts, picturesque landscapes, the International Festival "Camerimage " which takes place in the town of Bydgoszcz and to places connected with the great astronomer Nicolas Copernicus, such as Torun, where he was born. Also last but not least to our local cuisine. In front of our pavilion we will construct a 5 meter high portrait of Nicolaus Copernicus surrounded by the heliocentric system made entirely from gingerbread which is our local specialty. Another attraction will be the wooden graduation towers which were originally built to evaporate brine. These 6 meter high replicas, made of wood and blackthorn, are a typical example of those that stands in the SPA resorts of Ciechocinek and Inowroclaw. In order for people to relax and breathe in the ozone produced by these towers we have placed a number of swing chairs for our visitors' use. Inside the pavilion there will be workshops on making traditional decorative gingerbread. Moreover, there will be cooking shows every evening, with the possibility to taste our snacks and local products. There will also be an exposition of Marek Czarnecki’s photograph's “Kujawsko-Pomorskie Spaces 3D” made with a unique panoramic and stereoscopic technique (interview with the author here www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wpt4s0jceBY). At the beginning of June the exhibition opened in the BWA Gallery in Bydgoszcz. In another exhibition “Nicolaus Copernicus’s Way”, we will exhibit copies of the most valuable museum pieces pertaining to the great astronomer, showing not only his scientific output but also documentation of his journeys around Europe, especially Italy (He studied in Bolognia, Padwa and Ferrara and resided in Rome). In the cinema , we will show the most interesting facts about the region and cities of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region. In addition one can watch films made by the Tumult Foundation, promoting the Camerimage Film Festival. This year it will be held between 14th and 21st November in Bydgoszcz.
